Studios Unis instructors among the Grand Masters of Kenpo/Kempo Unity.
Recently, on February 3, 2007, some Studios Unis instructors accompanied Shihan Clermont Poulin for a
memorial held in San Francisco to honour the father of Kenpo/Kempo karate, William K.S. Chow. Several
Grand Masters from various disciplines originating from Professor Chow’s teachings were present at this
memorial. Master Bill Chun Jr. (Go Shin Jitsu Kempo), Grand Master Tomas Mitose (Kosho-Ryu Kenpo), Ed
Parker Jr. (American Kenpo), Great Grand Master Ralph Castro and Grand Master Rob Casto representing
Shaolin Kenpo and Shihans John James, Grand Master Clermont Poulin, Hanshi Craig Seavey and Sensei
Maryann Weeden (Nick Cerio’s Kenpo Karate) were all there and shared their know-how for the enjoyment
of all attendees.
The presence of Studios Unis instructors was highly noticed, especially during a speech by Master Bill
Chun Jr. highlighting the great qualities of Shihan Clermont Poulin, during which
Master Chun Jr. promoted
Shihan Poulin to the highly prestigious rank of Grand Master at the testimonial dinner. Master Chun Jr.
also took this opportunity to underscore the excellence of Studios Unis members, stating that this
organization was a definite model for all to copy both for their martial arts qualities and their unity
within the various schools.
